Manufacturing and Design Engineer

Location: Arcade, NY

The Manufacturing & Design Engineer is responsible for designing and leading the successful delivery of complex engineering projects and programs for our DCC (data cooling center) business. This role acts as a bridge between customers, engineering, sales, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet business objectives, technical requirements, and budget/timeline constraints.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define products and create detailed drawings to enable machining, fabrication and assembly
  • Set up routers, Bills of Material (BOM’s), and item card information in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for new projects
  • Interface with other departments to understand requirements, align priorities, define project scope, and manage new projects
  • Collaborate with the sales department to prepare cost estimates and routing times for all new DCC projects
  • Deliver manufacturing engineering services pertaining to robotic welders, tee drill equipment, auto welders, orbital welders, and fixturing to assist with fabrication, welding and polishing operations, such as design of fixtures and tooling; streamlining the build process; and incorporating automation.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, Gantt charts, dashboards, and other tracking tools to monitor project progress, identify risks/issues, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track

Qualifications

  • BS degree or higher in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or other relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Ten or more years of experience in mechanical engineering and/or manufacturing engineering
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D modeling (we use Autodesk)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies a plus
  • Able to perform the physical demands of the job including:
    • Ability to safely navigate a manufacturing environment
    • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and twist
    • Ability to use office, phone and computer equipment
