Quality Engineer


The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining and improving product and process quality across the organization. This hands-on position combines inspection duties with engineering responsibilities such as root cause analysis, continuous improvement projects, and support for internal and customer audits. It is ideal for an early-career quality professional looking to apply engineering principles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and document detailed inspections of components using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, Keyence, FARO, and Niton gun.
  • Develop and improve inspection methods and procedures based on engineering requirements and quality standards.
  • Analyze quality data and identify trends related to defects, scrap, rework, and warranty issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA.
  • Support the development and maintenance of quality control plans, inspection procedures, and standard work documentation.
  • Participate in internal audits and support external and customer audits, including documentation review and data presentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to troubleshoot quality issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Contribute to Lean and Six Sigma projects to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support calibration schedules and monitor functionality of inspection tools and measurement systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer-specific requirements, and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in quality engineering or manufacturing quality control.
  • Solid understanding of quality systems (ISO), PPAP requirements, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Proficient in using inspection equipment and software (CMM, Keyence, FARO, Minitab, ERP systems).
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with root cause tools and quality methodologies such as FMEA, CAPA, 8D.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ CQE certification is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
